Easy To Clean Ladders

Ladders are devices that workers use to step up or gain access to elevated surfaces. There are several basic types of ladders available in the market. Some of them are rope ladders and rigid ladders. While selecting a ladder, keep in mind the strength and the versatility and safety features. It should be a one-time investment. There are many companies that manufacture ladders.

Types Of Ladder-Materials

There is a wide array of ladders of different sizes and forms available in the market. The material used to make ladders is mainly of three types. They are listed below.
1. Wood – the traditional material
2. Aluminum
3. Fiberglass- the most modern.

Why To Lubricate Ladders

Whatever the material of the ladder may be, only a clean ladder has long life. This is regardless of the material, age and manufacturer. Lubrications make the ladder extend and retract easily and smoothly. The candle wax or the paraffin is the best lubricant. The wax coats and works into the pores of the ladder material. It is not easily washed away with frequent baths.

How To Lubricate

The ladder has to be extended and the wax has to be rubbed onto all the contact points. Coat the lock parts with wax as this reduces the wear on the rungs as these parts move over the rungs every time the ladder is used. Clean and wax the ladders every six months.

How To Clean The Ladders

Before using the ladder make sure that all the screws, hinges and the rungs are tightly fixed. Clean off any mud or other liquids that might have accumulated on the ladder. After each use check if the ladder is clean. Wash in clean water using mild soap or detergent. Rinse the ladder thoroughly in clean water and store in a dry place away from heat, chemicals or other contaminants. The ladder should not be exposed to wet or damp conditions. This is to avoid the metallurgical corrosion. Maintain the ladder as per manufacturer’s guidelines. A ladder that is beyond repair has to be destroyed. Always paint the wood ladder to keep termites away.
